Visa

Any foreign visitors wishing to enter the Republic of Korea must have a valid passport and obtain an entry visa before landing. However, ordinary passport holders from countries/regions permitted under a visa-exemption agreement, reciprocity, or national interest may enter without a visa.

K-ETA(Korea Electronic Travel Authorization)

Nationals from visa-free countries/regions must obtain K-ETA before boarding a flight or ship to Korea.

  1. The application fee is 10,000 KRW (approx. USD 7–8), non-refundable, with an additional online payment charge.
  2. Processing normally takes up to 72 hours, but may take longer depending on circumstances; no expedited review is available.
  3. K-ETA is valid for 3 years (2 years if applied before July 3, 2023), but only until the passport expiry date if earlier.
  4. The validity of K-ETA does not correspond to the permitted length of stay; the actual stay period is determined by Korea’s visa-free entry agreement with each country.
  5. False or inaccurate information may lead to cancellation, penalties, or entry restrictions.
  6. K-ETA is not a visa and does not guarantee entry into Korea. The final decision is made by the immigration officer at the port of entry.
  7. Holders of K-ETA are exempt from submitting an arrival card.
  8. A new K-ETA is required if the passport is reissued or if criminal record or infectious disease information changes.
  9. Travel information such as purpose of visit, address, contact, dates, or companions must be updated on the K-ETA website before entry.
  10. If you hold both a K-ETA and a valid Residence Card or visa, the Residence Card or visa takes precedence.
