ISSBD membership is not required for submission or to attend the Conference.

However, we encourage you to take advantage of the benefits of membership. Members of the Society are offered a significant discount on conference registration in addition to the eligibility for a variety of Society resources and initiatives. Membership Benefits

ISSBD membership is open to scholars and researcher who have completed postgraduate training in the behavioural, social or biological sciences and who are actively engaged in research on human developmental processes at any stage in the lifespan. Students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate study qualify for student membership.

ISSBD has members in over 60 countries, meaning there are more opportunities than ever to network with other developmental scientists around the globe. See below for some of the benefits of being an ISSBD member.

1. Access to the latest research on development across the life-span and across the globe:

Free subscription to the International Journal of Behavioral Development, the leading international journal devoted to interdisciplinary research on behavioural development from a lifespan perspective, and now including behavioural genetics, neuroscience and developmental psychopathology as well as methods and measures papers – published six times a year. Registered members can click here to access IJBD via SAGE Journals.

ISSBD Bulletin containing information on upcoming events and opportunities, and special sections on seminal topics in life span human development in a cultural context – twice a year, and also available online.

25% discount on all SAGE books. SAGE publishes over 800 books a year across a broad range of subject areas including psychology, business, humanities, social sciences, and science, technology, and medicine.

2. Grants, awards, and early career support:

ISSBD offers resources for scholars in the early phases of their careers, including a mentorship scheme.

ISSBD provides grants to support early career scholars and students to attend conferences and workshops.

ISSBD recognizes members’ accomplishments in the field of lifespan development through biennial awards.

3. Networking and professional development:

Regular e-newsletters with up-to-the-minute information on ISSBD, job adverts, grant opportunities and upcoming conferences.

Reduced registration fees for the Society’s Biennial Meetings.

Members can attend, and propose, regional workshops on current topics.

Reduced membership fees for early career scholars, students and scholars in developing countries.

Joining ISSBD

ISSBD now has a new membership registration system. This new system will allow you to easily join and re-new membership. It will also allow for easier payment of fees with credit cards (from around the world), with only minimal information collected.
